Campfire Volleyball was founded by Marissa Stinson, Pearland native, who looks to give back to her community. Marissa attended Mary Marek Elementary, Nolan Ryan Junior High, and Manvel High School in Alvin ISD. As a member of the Lady Maverick’s varsity volleyball team she earned numerous accolades including All-District Honorable Mention (2015), First Team All-District (2016), Academic All-District (2015, 2016), TCGA All-State Academic Team (2016), and served as her team captain (2016).
Marissa continued her volleyball career collegiately at Concordia University Texas, where she led her team to two ASC conference semifinals leading the team in both kills and blocks for two consecutive seasons (2017, 2018). During her career, Marissa racked up numerous accolades including ASC All-Conference Team (2017, 2018), ASC West Division First Team (2017, 2018), ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team (2017), Academic All-ASC Team (2017), ASC All-Tournament Team (2017), and AVCA Division III All-Region Honorable Mention (2018), the first Tornado since 2008 to earn an AVCA honor. She also ranked sixth in the nation in hitting percentage during her junior season (2018). Marissa graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration - Management in 2019, will graduate with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership in 2024, and is an elementary school teacher in Alvin ISD. For several years, Marissa coached for youth developmental and club programs in Austin such as Spike Frog Volleyball, West Austin Volleyball, Roots Volleyball (previously known as Texas Eclipse Junior Volleyball), and Houston Juniors Volleyball Club. Marissa loves giving back to the youth and coaches because of her belief in stewardship. She aims to mold players into young adults by teaching life lessons through sports. She strives to teach her players effective communication skills, discipline, team unity, accountability, and sportsmanship. She loves to build lifelong relationships with players and their families and believes in fostering players’ dreams on and off the court. Her goal is to help athletes face challenges and to see mistakes as learning experiences instead of being afraid of failure, thus empowering them to become leaders. marissa@campfirevolleyball.org Coaching Highlights:
